Wedding photographer review

We honestly couldn’t be happier with our wedding photos! Grace was amazing – not only are the photos stunning, but she felt like part of the family throughout the day. She made everyone feel so comfortable, brought so much fun and creativity, and captured the vibe of our little wedding so beautifully. We would recommend her to absolutely everyone!

Your best wedding moment or memory

It was all perfect! The sun was shining, and we had the best time celebrating our wedding with family – both in Exeter and our trip to Italy straight afterwards! Jackson says his favourite memory was watching me walk down the aisle.

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

After 12 years together (since school!), we wanted nothing more than a relaxed day with our closest family. The next morning we all jetted off to Tuscany for a few unforgettable days, and once everyone flew home, we carried on our honeymoon in Florence and Milan. It couldn’t have been more perfect!

Venue name + review

Venue was the Jury Room and Exeter’s Historic Guildhall. It was perfect, super central and full of character and history.

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

I always knew I wanted to wear a short dress, just felt very me and went with the chill, fun vibe of the day.
Jackson’s suit was from Moss Brothers. As were all the men’s suits on the day, super helpful in the Exeter branch!

We had such a great experience with Mark!

He instantly made us feel at ease – really chilled, funny and easy to get along with, which made the whole shoot so relaxed.

On top of that, his photos are amazing. He captured everything beautifully without it ever feeling forced.

The Gilpin was everything we could have hoped for and more.

The setting is absolutely beautiful, with the Lake House overlooking its own private lake – so peaceful and special.

The staff were amazing, so attentive and friendly, and they really made us feel looked after.

The food and service were faultless from start to finish.

Honestly, it was the perfect venue!

The bride wore a beautiful ivory dress, while the groom looked smart in a blue suit, matching the style of our guests.

I love adventurous people, and couples who trust in their suppliers to create something wonderful. Richard and Kyra are both – and their Northamptonshire wedding is all the more beautiful for it. The super lovely couple chose Dodmoor House wedding photographers Sky Photography to capture their day – and it’s amazing. I’ve adored scrolling through every image, and I’ve saved some of my faves to share on instagram later too!

“Our wedding was just more incredible than we ever could’ve dreamt. We didn’t want a fancy wedding, but rather one that was cosy and suited our relaxed and adventurous personalities, and we definitely had that. Our suppliers were brilliant, and our advice to any couple is to pick great suppliers with great reviews, give a rough guide (in terms of colours etc), and then just try to let go & trust them – they will do an amazing job!”

Wedding photographer review

We honestly cannot say thank you to Simon (& Karla) enough for our wedding photos. As two non-photogenic sporty people, often found in running clothes, we were so worried about our photos being forced. Simon just put us at ease, and all the photos we have are just genuine happy moments, naturally captured. We love them, and we’ve had so many compliments!

Your best wedding moment or memory

We went off alone after we were just married to take some photos and we just really appreciated a few moments together, to enjoy the fact that we we were finally actually married!

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

My twin sister gave a speech, which we loved, as well as my Dad! We bought a game of twister for the bar, and it was the best decision ever that we’d reccomend to other couples!

Venue name + review

Dodmoor House – just an incredible venue. They honestly said yes to every single idea we had, and made us feel like the only couple to ever be married at Dodmoor! It was personal and unique, and the staff were just amazing!

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

Kyra – I wanted a dress that was feminine, but not a huge dress either. So I had an A-line dress, with flowers in lace. I felt a million miles away from my usual running things!
Richard – I wore a blue suit with a dusty blue tie & a white shirt.

Dress or suit shop name + review

Dress – Oliver’s bridal in Hoddeson – again, the most amazing shop that helped the most non-girlie girl ever find the perfect dress!

Suit from Moss Boss.

Florist name + review

Orange Blossom did our flowers – we asked them for the number and gave a colour, and asked them to work their magic, as we had no idea & trusted them entirely – they definitely did work their magic, we absolutely loved the colour and arrangement of the flowers!

Cake maker name + review

Jamie Bakes Cakes – the very best chocolate cupcakes we’ve ever eaten! Jamie made it all so easy, and the cake looked so good with the colour scheme.

Any crafty projects or homemade styling touches?

We decorated a lot of our wedding using things from Etsy, as we had a travel theme. We also used Little Details who decorated the venue to make it look one hundred times more than we even could’ve imagined, and it felt really personalised.

Wedding readings?

Richard’s Mum wrote her own reading for the wedding, on the ten tips of marriage – we have it in our kitchen now, it’s full of wisdom & we loved it.

Hair + makeup name + review

Charlotte Chartell did my makeup & Kate Lodge did my hair – again I gave them full control, knowing they would know so much more than me. Not only did they make us look and feel amazing, but they were also like extra bridesmaids – by the end of the morning I wished I could’ve invited them both to the wedding!

The attention to detail from this lovely couple makes for especially exciting reading, but it’s the photos of their day that won my heart. Wedding photographer review

A fantastic photographer who truly listened to our wishes while also bringing in creative ideas from his experience. We trusted his vision, and the final photographs turned out stunning. He even stayed longer than planned to capture as much of our fusion wedding as possible, and so many of our guests commented on how brilliant he was.

Your best wedding moment or memory

At first, we both said the exchange of vows was the best moment. Then we thought about the speeches, the dinner, and later, we agreed the evening was incredible. Ultimately, what made it so special was being surrounded by the people we love and getting to share our joy with them. That, for us, is the best memory.

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

We incorporated several unique touches into our wedding:

  • Our venue was a working theatre, so we designed official-looking tickets with our wedding date and times. These were stamped with a unique mark as a keepsake for our guests.
  • Our little family members took on the role of “ring security”, which, while not entirely new, was a fun surprise for many of our guests.
  • In the evening, we changed from our English wedding attire into traditional Punjabi clothing and made a grand entrance dancing to live dhol drummers.
  • We played traditional Punjabi wedding games to determine who would “rule” the relationship—Michelle won!
  • We included the Mangalsutra ceremony, where the groom gives the bride a traditional necklace as a symbol of their marriage.
  • As a surprise, we announced and celebrated the birthdays of six guests, presenting them with cakes featuring their photos and singing “Happy Birthday” to them.
  • Our evening reception had a mix of English and Indian cuisine, along with roulette tables, a caricaturist, a face painter, a selfie mirror, and a cocktail mixologist serving a custom menu of autumn-themed drinks we selected.

Martin at Valley Visual Films

Martin was brilliant—professional yet unobtrusive, giving us space while still capturing all the intimate moments. The film was delivered quickly but with incredible care and quality. We, along with our family and friends, continue to enjoy looking back on it with fond memories.

Venue name + review

Kings Hall and Winter Gardens, Ilkley

A beautiful venue rich in history, set in the charming village of Ilkley. The large, naturally lit Victorian ceremony room perfectly complemented our autumnal theme. With ample space for our 200+ guests, it was both grand and intimate. The theatre setting was spectacular for our wedding breakfast and evening celebration—truly a hidden gem in the Yorkshire Moors.

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

Michelle: For the ceremony, I wore a simple long white dress with long sleeves and a split detail, featuring a cowl back, tiara, and a long veil from Must Be Love Bridal in Nottinghamshire. My mid-heel shoes were from Irregular Choice. For traditions, I wore:

  • Something old & borrowed: My grandad’s wedding ring
  • Something new & blue: A necklace gifted by my mum
  • I also had mehndi (henna) on both hands

In the evening, I changed into a burnt orange and antique gold Punjabi lehenga, with matching antique gold Punjabi bridal jewelry, designed by a bespoke wedding clothing designer at Bradford Plaza.

Ricky: For the ceremony, I wore a burgundy tweed suit, paired with a cream shirt and a burnt orange tie — the same tie was gifted to distinguished family members to wear, tying into our autumnal theme. In the evening, I changed into a traditional Shivani, a northern Indian wedding outfit, in orange, burgundy, with hints of blue and gold.

Stationery maker’s name + review

Michelle’s Man of Honour and best friend created our place settings as a gift. All other stationery, signage, and imagery were handmade by Michelle, Ricky, and Ricky’s children, Erin and Bennett.

Any crafty projects or homemade styling touches?

Our wedding was full of DIY elements, including:

  • Handmade bouquets and buttonholes (Michelle & her mum). • Custom “ring security” accessories (Michelle & Ricky).
  • Wedding favours & kids’ activity packs (Michelle, Ricky, family & friends).
  • Fusion-themed activity packs for children, blending English and Indian games.
  • Homemade confetti (Michelle & Emma).
  • A unique guest book/well wishes activity, created by Michelle’s friend Emma, which we opened on our 1-year anniversary.
  • A diamond art picture in our wedding colours, crafted by Michelle’s sister Alana, displayed alongside a memorial table for loved ones who had passed.

Wedding readings?

  1. We had three readings, starting from long to short:
“Love’s Eternal Dance” – An old Punjabi poem adapted to reflect the union of East and West, read by Lash Lal, a family relative of the groom, chosen for her fluency in Punjabi.
  2. “Blessing of the Hands” – A reflection on the balance and tenderness of a relationship, read by Rekha Dulai.
  3. “Here and Now” – A short, sweet reading by Michelle’s close friend, Emma Sinnet.

Wedding planner name + review

Emma at Embie Events was fantastic. She supported us throughout the planning process and ensured everything ran seamlessly on the day. She even came to where I was getting ready to steam my wedding dress! With a huge task ahead of her, she managed it all effortlessly while also serving as our MC for the day.

Hair + makeup name + review

Styled by Armani
Armani was brilliant—she listened to what I liked (and didn’t like!) and made me feel perfect on the day. She also did the hair and makeup for some of my bridesmaids, and they all looked stunning.

Live music

Ray’s Piano
Ray’s Piano played for us from the ceremony right through to the end of the wedding breakfast, and he was absolutely fabulous. We gave him some tricky songs to play, but he did them justice, and his performance added such a beautiful, elegant touch to the day. He was a joy to collaborate with, and we couldn’t have asked for a better musician to set the perfect atmosphere.

I’m loving all the gentle autumn tones in this gorgeous Yorkshire wedding from The Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey. Wedding photographer review

Where do we begin!!!!! The photography is absolutely stunning, we are SO happy with our photos. Joss has captured all of our key moments – from getting ready, walking down the aisle, to the first dance, as well as ‘fun’ moments like our friends building a human pyramid and doing a beer boat race. He’s captured some beautiful images of our guests enjoying the drinks reception, meal and speeches and he’s really captured the vibe of the wedding, as well as the colours which come out so well too. We are just delighted with the images.

Joss is the best in the business. He was the photographer at our good friend’s wedding just before we got engaged, and both of us thought their wedding photos were stunning. So when we got engaged and booked The Tithe Barn for our wedding venue, we knew we wanted Joss as our photographer, and we booked him the very next day. Joss is absolutely one of the best choices we made for our wedding and we would recommend him to everybody else. His photos are truly beautiful – he knows how to get a perfect shot and makes you feel so relaxed during the process.

He captures all the main moments – he was about to leave our wedding when he heard a beer boat race was happening, and stayed because he thought this would make good footage.

And on top of this, he is a great guy! Easy company, friendly with everyone, helpful, accommodating – we could go on. Our guests have commented on both how amazing the photos are, but also about how nice a guy Joss is. He was a big hit with everybody.

Joss also adds his own special touches – regular emails leading up to the wedding with reminders, top tips etc which are a nice touch.

He also saved us on the day when our bridesmaids’ taxi didn’t show – Joss stepped up immediately and drove them to the venue. He made what could have been a stressful moment all ok. Finally, he turns around photos unbelievably quickly – we got ours back just 3 days after the wedding, which kept us on the post wedding high!

Venue name + review

We got married in Bolton Priory Church, which is a very short walk from our reception venue, The Tithe Barn. We wanted to get married in the North, which is where Sarah is from, and wanted a converted barn style wedding after attending a very fun wedding in a similar venue the year before – we loved the barn style and look, and also wanted a venue where we didn’t have to worry about too much ourselves. We visited The Tithe Barn and completely fell in love with the vibe and look. We also loved that they are known for the quality of their food – Tom is a big foodie so this was important to him. We also wanted somewhere where the bar is close to the dancefloor and this ticked all the boxes!

The Barn overlooks the grounds of Bolton Abbey which are just stunning. After visiting the Barn we went down to the grounds and looked around Bolton Priory church too which is a stunning church. Immediately we felt it would be great to get married here, and would work very well for the reception, as guests could walk between the two. We would absolutely recommend the Tithe Barn – the venue is amazing and the team are so helpful and accommodating and they really know what they are doing. For those wanting a church ceremony, then Bolton Priory is wonderful too and it felt very special to get married there.

The Tithe Barn did all of the food on the day and the chefs are just incredible! They’re known for their food and you can really see why – we had so many compliments from guests, some of whom work in catering, that it was some of the best food they’ve had at a large event. For our meal we chose: smoked salmon, rump beef with all the trimmings, and creme brulee for dessert. That description doesn’t do it justice, you really have to taste it to appreciate the quality of the food and cooking. Everything was served on sharing platters for the table which our guests enjoyed.

Dress or suit shop name + review

Sarah was actually dreading finding a dress as had no clue about what to go for and sort of wanted to just get it over with. Luckily the shop assistants were amazing at giving me guidance and helping me work out what I liked and didn’t like.

After going to a couple of appointments, she realised that she most suited an A line dress, in a relatively simply design (i.e no extra lace, beading etc!). The dress I wore was an A line with a square neckline and simple shoulder straps, with floral embroidery. It had a very full skirt which I was a bit unsure of at first, but so glad I went for it as it felt very special on the day (and I was still able to dance and move in it!). I wasn’t planning on wearing a veil but panic bought one the week before the wedding and was so glad I did because it really finished the outfit off on the day!

Florist name + review

We both have very little knowledge of flowers, but very luckily Tom’s mum, Jane, is a florist (Bridge House Flowers based in Bridport Dorset) and wanted to do the flowers for our wedding so we completely left it in her hands! We gave her the briefest of briefs (Autumnal vibe) and Jane was absolutely amazing at sorting everything out and bringing that to life.

In all honesty we don’t know all the types of flowers we had (apart from some roses), but the colours were stunning – oranges, browns, dark reds. Jane did an incredible job. Sarah knew she could trust her and it would look great, but on the day it exceeded all of her expectations. We had so many comments about the flowers which looked incredible in the rustic Tithe Barn setting. As Jane is based in Dorset, she had to find a local flower supplier up North, and had to collect the flowers at 2am a few days before the wedding. So it was a lot of work for her and we’re very grateful!!

Cake maker name + review

We found a lovely local supplier, Chloe’s Cakes North Yorkshire, who made a three tier cake in an autumnal design – lemon, victoria sponge, and salted caramel flavours. Chloe was fantastic – delivered and set up the cake at the venue on the day, and arranged for us to pick up tasters on one of our visits to the venue a couple of months before.

We live in London so it wasn’t always as easy for us to arrange tastings/visits etc, but Chloe was so accommodating and made sure we got to try our flavours before the big day!

Any crafty projects or homemade styling touches?

For our wedding favours, Tom’s mum made handmade ‘love knots’ out of dried wheat, and we wrote every guest a little note to attach to them – thanking them for celebrating with us, detailing a memory, letting them know how much they mean to us.

It took quite a long time to write out 113 personal notes but we’re so glad we did. A lot of people had travelled far for our wedding and made special arrangements to be there, and we wanted to thank them all.

Entertainment

We used South West Band for the entertainment for the day and evening. We had an acoustic guitarist/singer play during the reception, a three piece (drums, bass and electric guitar/singer) for the evening and a DJ until we finished at 12.30am.

South West Band were fantastic. We spoke with them in the lead up to the wedding to discuss music choices and set times. The band during the evening were excellent. They learnt our first dance song, kept the dancefloor full and created the live music experience we wanted.

Emis was a brilliant photographer, who captured our day perfectly. We knew before we started looking that we wanted natural, candid photos that told the story of the day as you looked through them, rather than posed photos. As soon as we found his website, we knew he was the one! He managed to capture all of the emotions of the day and we had the best time going through all the photos after to relive the day. It was especially important he captured all of those moments we missed on the day, particularly as we didn’t have an official videographer.

Your best wedding moment or memory

Some friends performed Irish dancing in the afternoon, and we also learnt some of the dance and got up to perform with them! We managed to keep it a secret from everyone so it was a total surprise for all our guests and they loved it. Great craic!

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

We officially tied the knot a week earlier at our local town hall, and instead got one of our close friends to act as celebrant on the day. This meant we could really personalise the whole ceremony – including a small interlude to sing ‘Hey Jude’ by the Beatles, while we did a ring warming ritual.

The Secret Barn – Petal and Feast

Hannah, Sally and the rest of the team were fantastic on the day, helping everything behind the scenes run smoothly. The food was excellent and the flowers were jaw-droppingly gorgeous!

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

The bride wore an ivory satin slip dress from Grace Loves Lace, with a floral embroidered veil from the same brand. Shoes were good old ASOS!
The groom wore a navy suit from Suit Supply, with a tie and pocket square from Crossrow London.

Petal and Feast took care of all our flowers – simply stunning. I wanted colourful and big, and they certainly delivered on that front – my bouquet was almost as big as me!

Any crafty projects or homemade styling touches?

We painted on large canvases our seating plan and running order of the day to save some money!

Hair + makeup name + review

Izzy Milne

Izzy took care of the myself and the bridesmaids on the day. I opted for a light, soft pink make up which I felt super comfortable in!

Hair was done by myself, and totally fell out while I was dancing but in the end it didn’t matter – I was having too much of a good time!

Our penultimate wedding before the end of the year is an absolute beauty. The venue, breathtaking Skipton Castle. Autumn & James said their vows below a beautiful old church window with no glass – only the sounds of trees and nature, and champagne corks popping outside as they were wed! The couple look fabulous, the images are just wonderfully romantic thanks to Joss Denham Photography, who gets an amazing review from the happy couple!

Wedding photographer review

Photographs were amazing! They captured everything that was good about the day, and will be moments we look back on for our whole lives. They captured the sense of the day and the happiness.

Joss was hands down everything we could have asked for from a wedding photographer. He kept things chilled out, he never asked us to do any silly poses or awkward shots. Everything felt natural, unforced and easy.

Venue name + review

We got married at Skipton Castle in Yorkshire. We chose the venue as it felt rustic, and elegant, and beautiful.

The ceremony itself took place in the Chapel, which was 12th Century. We exchanged rings under a huge, church-like arched window, without any panes of glass. We could see the trees rustling outside and hear bottles of champagne being popped ready for our drinks reception behind the chapel. There were views over the dales and the sun came out, which was magical. We would 100% recommend the venue. On top of the lovely venue itself, the staff were excellent. They were organised, responsive, kind and professional. For those that like the idea of getting married in a church, but are not religious – this was the ideal place. We had the reception in a local pub. Unfortunately they don’t usually do wedding receptions, but had kindly made an exception for us because of family nearby. It is a place I have been coming every year for christmas, birthdays, holidays etc.

Wedding look and style

The style of our wedding was sort of traditional and classic. We wanted the ceremony to feel elegant, and had a string quartet and a chapel filled with white flowers, ivy trailing through the windows, and candles. But we also wanted a full weekend to bring our close friends and family together for a lovely time in the Yorkshire dales. So we tried to keep the drinks flowing and food coming.

The colours were all whites, greens, and muted pastel pinks. We wanted the colours to feel delicate and gentle and they also felt that they fit in with the surrounding dales. This came out beautifully in the pics, eg with the stone walls in the background, within the castle grounds, in the courtyards and over the cobbles.

Tell us a little about your outfits

The wedding dress was a strapless ivory satin with pearl beading and a ridiculously long train. I loved the idea of coming down the isle in the old chapel with this huge train following behind. When our friend came up to give a reading he had to walk the other way around us because the train filled the whole side of the chapel – to all the guests, and our, amusement. I chose the dress with my mum in Royal Tunbridge Wells. I wore a flower headpiece that my mum wore for her wedding 39 years ago. The mens suits were navy and classic, with simple white rose button holes.

We chose white and green flowers throughout. The bridal bouquet was filled with white lisianthus, and the bridesmaids a blush pink lisianthus, to match their nude pink dresses. Fresias also meant they smelt lovely all day. The huge floral displays are now being enjoyed in my grandparents home, squished into their living room- as they lived down the road and were carried from the pub the next morning there. About 6 months before our wedding the brides parent moved to the Yorkshire Dales, right next door to a florist. A lucky co-incidence, and team effort from the brides mum and aunty to make them look so beautiful. Ivy that filled the windows was sourced from local gardens in the days before!

Cake maker name + review

Minimal wedding cake with berries Elegant modern wedding at Skipton Castle with Joss Denham Photography

3 tiered cake, from a friend of my bridesmaid. 2 tiers of lemon, 1 of vanilla and raspberry jam. All covered in a white chocolate ganache. We managed to eat half the top tier out of a basket on our drive back down south the next day. It was amazing.

Catering

Directly after the ceremony we had canapes at Skipton Castle, from Good Food Story. All were fantastic but the blue cheese tartlets were our favourite. As we were clinging on to the last of the good weather we had canapes alongside prosecco and pimms. At the pub, for the wedding breakfast, we had a 3 course meal with a classic sticky toffee pudding for desert. All the guests also got a box of salted caramel truffles that were made at our local deli. The night was topped off with cheesy chips at half 9!

Wedding entertainment and music

We had a string quarter, the Ebor Quartet, during the ceremony and during drinks and canapes afterwards. They were amazing and helped set the mood in the chapel. They played mainly classical music although also a few Metallica songs (groom’s request). In the evening a local singer/songwriter played in the pub, including for the first dance.

Little extras and personal touches

Some of our friends provided entertainment and a bride/groom quiz on the coach between the ceremony and reception. Luckily the bride and groom had their own transport so couldn’t confirm/deny answers to the questions.

What would be your top tip for a future couple getting married?

Pick a photographer like Joss! We found him through a friends wedding and loved the vibe of them, plus our friend is really into photography so had really done the leg work to find such a great photographer. So it turned out wonderfully for us!

What advice would you give to a future couple to do/not do to make sure their guests have a great time at their wedding?

We did food and drinks and the pub the night before too, which helped make it feel like a whole weekend event and everyone could meet or reunite the day before!

What areas or vendors would you advise future couples to definitely invest in and/or even increase their budget on?

Good food and drink vendors, and of course a great photographer! In a couple of instances we switched travel and food vendors because they were a bit tricky and unresponsive. As soon as we switched to recommended ones it was unbelievablely easy, hassle free and great servive. Don’t spend money on people it is tricky to engage with.

Wedding photographer review

We chose Mike as we loved the natural styling of his pictures. They managed to grab the moments that we couldn’t always be around to see and at the same time capture the feel of our big day. We didn’t want too many staged pictures. We wanted to see the pictures and relive the special moments from our day. Mikes pictures have helped do just that.

Your best wedding moment or memory

One of the moments that stands out from our wedding day, was the moment we made our big entrance for the ceremony. Many of our guests assumed we would enter by the double doors to the rear of Great Hall at Leigh Court but the dual staircase provided the opportunity for the perfect entrance which warranted a round of applause from the guests. You could feel the love in the room. Seeing so many of our close family and friends gathered together to share the day was such a magical moment.

Venue name + review

Leigh Court. We shortlisted just a few venues that suited our criteria but Leigh Court stood apart from the others.

The imposing building and impressive, characterful rooms blew us away. We knew our guests would be equally as charmed by it. Having the whole of the ground floor allowed our day to seamlessly flow from room to room but each room providing its own purpose.

The Great hall, which had also been used for filming of Bridgerton amongst other TV dramas, was a striking space for the ceremony.

The Salon for the drinks and canapés, the Library for our wedding breakfast while the stunning Tapestry room became the backdrop to dancing in the evening. The Morning room provided a more relaxed space for the photo booth to be set up.

The bar and lounge provided a brilliant space for friends to gather and converse while they grabbed a drink. So many of our guests have gone on to comment what a beautiful venue Leigh Court is. We found having Claire, our assigned wedding planner for the venue at hand, especially reassuring.

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

We decided on something coordinating and traditional. Tweed, wool suits were practical as we married in November, yet the styling seemed in keeping with the setting of the wedding. The warm brown tones were also hinted at on the twine of the invites and even the hydrangea button holes.

Florist name + review

Primrose May Florist.

Maddie at Primrose May totally understood the feel of wedding we were trying to create. We wanted flowers to look natural, not overly fussy or structured. Hydrangeas in a neutral cream suited the vibe. We had never considered these could be used for button holes even too.

Maddie set to work to create something that complimented our big day. We loved how local she was to us and isn’t a large company. Maddie even went above and beyond and provided us with a posey to be added to decorate our wedding cake when due to illness, a close friend who makes cakes and supplying the cake for our big day, was struck down by sickness and told he couldn’t even supply the cake he had designed and made for us.

Although the plain iced cakes we managed to source on the eve of the wedding weren’t the dramatic teal marbled creation we had hoped for, Maddie’s hydrangea saved the day, along with a little help from our venue wedding planner, Claire, so we had a more understated but classic cake instead.

Any crafty projects or homemade styling touches?

All our invitations were hand made. Each featured a photo booth like strip of pictures of us attached to the front of some of our happy memories. These were tied together by twine with a parcel tag with our logo, kindly designed by a close family friend, hand stamped on the front. This set a theme that was picked up through the wedding favours and place names.

The natural hues from the twine and parcel tag suited the vibe of our wedding and we suppose hints at the colours of wool suits. We share a love of live music, which from the start of relationship gave us a common interest and bonded us with us visiting established and up and coming artists touring. We therefore themed each table name after a musical act that we loved seeing.

Isaac created mock ups of vinyl 45’s record covers noting the name of a music act for each table. Guests could scan a QR code on the single mock up to take them to a play list of tracks from all the artists featured on the tables.

Wedding readings?

Keeping in line with our love of music, we felt a reading from a song by an artist we had seen live would be appropriate. Young Blood by Sophie Ellis-Bextor had the right sentiment and suited us so well. You only have to read the lyrics and we are sure you’ll share our thoughts.

First dance song? Playlist recommendations?

This guys in love with you by Herb Alpert, a total Burt Bacharach penned classic brought the guests gathering to watch our first dance. The words of this still make us slightly emotional. The title says it all. It means so much to us both.

Wedding planner name + review

Claire O’Shea who we met from our first visit to Leigh Court over saw the organisation of our big day. On the run up she made she we were on track with everything. On the eve of the wedding, she let us walk through our entrance and talked through the running order so we felt everything was in control. From offering guidance to our best men, to meeting us at the front door on the day itself, as we secretly arrived away from the eyes of our guests to create a sense of drama when we did finally appear, Claire managed the situation brilliantly.

Caterers name + review

Berry Blue, the caterers who deal with the catering for Leigh Court were great. So many people remember the food at a wedding so we were very aware how crucial getting it right was. We had a food tasting with Berry Blue of some of the selected dishes from their large range of choices. The only problem we were spoilt with what to go for. We were delighted with the meal provided though. Amazed at how the chefs got so many meals out in one wave, so everyone got fed almost at the same moment and impressed at the attentiveness of the waiting staff too.
