Cherry blossom and glorious gardens for this stunning Middleton Lodge wedding – an absolute beauty. Leigh and George used artificial flowers for colourful tables, bridesmaids wore vibrant pink – this entire day sings of celebration, and it’s utterly fabulous.

“I love spring and knew there would be lots of flowers in the garden and I really wanted a bright bold colour theme, hence the bright bouquets and bright pink dresses! I wanted to show our personalities in colour and make a really fun bright atmosphere.” ~ Leigh

Wedding photographer review

We picked Joss because he already had a really lovely profile of the kind of pictures we were hoping to get. We had a couple of calls with him before the wedding which helped to ease any nervousness around photos being taken and get to know him a bit better. This was great as it felt like we were being visited by a friend which made the whole atmosphere so much more relaxed. I would definitely recommend him to anyone getting married. He really respected the time we had at the ceremony to see our guests and took us out for brief moments to get some amazing shots.

I was quite worried about the photography because I am super awkward whenever someone tries to take my picture and it always shows the camera. I just wanted some lovely natural pictures and to feel comfortable while they were being taken. Joss was great for reassurance and a bit of direction when needed. He also used the scenery so well so we have so much variation in the pictures and they look truly stunning! I love the ones of us dancing on the road and looking at each other with the sun setting in the background.

Middleton Lodge – because of the gorgeous scenery and to be back in Yorkshire where I’m from. It’s a gorgeous venue and perfect for a summer wedding as the gardens are such a lovely place to hold the reception. I loved the Fig House because it’s such a stunning room and doesn’t require much decoration which is useful for me as I’m really not a details person!
We were desperate to make use of the beautiful gardens at Middleton Lodge and get married outside! We actually were already married at this point having been picked to get married at Marylebone Town Hall as part of their 100 weddings in one day celebration, although we didn’t know that we’d already be married when we first booked Middleton!

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

I wore a Grace Loves Lace Coco gown. I knew I’d wear this from the minute I saw it on their instagram and managed to get the last one in the UK as the company announced they were discontinuing it shortly after we got engaged-it was the first thing I bouche about 2 weeks after we got engaged-I had to move fast! I knew I wanted a really different dress that would stand out and I felt this was perfect. I didn’t try any other dressed from anywhere else because as soon as I put this one on I knew I wouldn’t find anything I loved more. I can be really indecisive and this is the first time I’ve managed to make a decision to quickly! George wore a Paul Smith suit and treated himself to a Gucci tie a week before the wedding.

Florist name + review

I really have no interest in flowers. I think they’re a waste of money because they die! So I didn’t bother with real ones and went shopping for artificial flowers with my mum who is very good at making things and she turned them into bouquets.

Cake maker name + review

George’s mum sourced the cake from a baker in Burnley where he’s from. I told her to see if she could get us a vintage one with lots of icing and in a bright colour and she did the rest! The top layer was lemon, middle Victoria sponge and the bottom was strawberry and champagne. We didn’t manage to eat any on the day though!

Wedding photographer review

The best wedding photographer we ever could’ve wished for! Mel captured our August wedding day and every emotion that came with it so beautifully. We are in love with the photos and are so grateful we now have so many moments to look back on and treasure forever.

Mel went above and beyond since we first got in touch, providing lots of helpful info and advice, as well the opportunity to have an engagement shoot which was so special and a great way to get to know each other more.

On the day, Mel was so much more than our wedding photographer, but an extra friend to share our day. She captured all the natural moments without being intrusive, but was also equally there to direct when needed and have some fun with the group shots – she’s full of great ideas, creativity and patience! She brought such a calming energy and put everyone at ease even helping me with my dress and the boys with their buttonholes.

She listened to all our ideas and just totally got our vibe. Our family and friends thought she was brilliant too and so friendly and approachable, with several people mentioning how she literally didn’t stop smiling or snapping away all day.

Mel is a sunshine soul and we truly can’t thank or recommend her enough!!

Your best wedding moment or memory

Our outdoor ceremony ended up being one of our favourite moments due to the complete bubble we found ourselves in of pure love and emotion. It was so special looking out and seeing all our loved ones as we read our personalised vows to each other and walking down the aisle as husband and wife was a moment we will cherish forever.

The tractor ride offered by our venue was another stand out memory as we were able to take a few moments away from it all to soak everything in and be just us, walking in a field that overlooked the sea.

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

  • Bride’s speech – The groom wrote a bit of a silly song to Max Boyce’s hymns and arias (a classic Welsh song) with audience involvement and everything! It was a real highlight and he hadn’t told a single person so the biggest surprise of the day.
  • Sundowner drinks on the beach the night before. As people were travelling far and wide, we wanted to make a weekend of it. Most of the guests ended up joining us on the beach the evening before which was so special and the perfect start to our wedding.
  • Tractor ride
  • Lots of homemade touches
  • Pizza van in the evening of course as pizza is our favourite!

Launcells Barton

The most perfect Cornish venue to celebrate our August wedding. We knew when we were first showed around that it had to be Launcells!

From the very beginning, we felt looked after by the team and their communication and attention to detail throughout was outstanding.

They were always so welcoming and there to answer any questions, as well as providing lots of helpful information and advice throughout our wedding journey.

The setting of the venue is something super special and all of our guests were blown away, with not only all of the incredible spaces but the whole feel and homeliness of it all.

We were fortunate enough to have an outdoor ceremony in the beautiful and intimate walled garden, which ended up being one of our favourite parts (along with the tractor ride – such a unique experience), making for amazing photos!

The reception barn was stunning on its own, but we loved that we were able to put our stamp on it with our own decor and bring our vision to life.

The Manor House was another beautiful feature and there was plenty of space to get ready in the morning. The exclusive use of the venue for the whole weekend made for such a memorable time with our closest family who were able to stay onsite.

We are so grateful for all the time and dedication put into ensuring we had the perfect day and thank the whole team from the bottom of our hearts for hosting the best day of our lives!

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

Bride – my wedding dress reminded me of the way the sea shimmers on a sunny day and was almost mermaid like which is why I fell in love with it. I was able to make it bespoke by adding pearls down the back and off the shoulder sleeves for that whimsical, fairy tale look.

I wore a denim jacket for when it was cooler in the evening that I personalised with pearl initials and little sewn on motifs like a wave, hibiscus flower, stars and a tiny welsh flag.

My favourite part was the jewellery I had made bespoke by Tara Osborne – a unique arm cuff with engraved lines to represent our wedding date, moonstone earrings and a moonstone back necklace with 9 pearls to indicate the number of years we’ve been together.

My something blue were my blue bow shoes which were so cute and fun!

Groom – cream linen trousers with a navy jacket and waistcoat.

The groomsmen were in the opposite, so navy trousers and cream linen jackets.

The ties were peach and as a surprise, the bride had a tie patch made of a photo of our dog, Skye which the groom discovered when getting ready.

Bridesmaids – peach dresses from VILA and they all had matching white bow heels.

Steph at Verbena Floral Styling – the most wonderful florist who brought our vision and Pinterest board to life with her beautiful flower arrangements.

We wanted flowers that suited the theme of coastal, whimsical and fun, and Steph got it exactly spot on!

My bouquet was even made into a heart shape and I literally did not put it down all day long!

The meadow style arrangements that lined the aisle for the ceremony were breathtaking, along with the giant urns that set for the ceremony backdrop. It was fantastic that these could all then be moved into the reception barn and we also had bud vases set along the trestle tables which looked stunning.

The power of flowers and the beauty of floral arrangements at a wedding shouldn’t be underestimated and Steph knows how to deliver.

She also kindly helped with the styling in the reception barn and has an amazing eye for detail which made everything look flawless.

Mother of the bride! A 3 tier cake of lemon, cappuccino and malt chocolate.

Decorated with royal icing and gold leaf.

We had a wooden cake topper made of the bride, groom and our dog. The groom is Welsh so the mother of the groom made a barabrith and one of the bridesmaids made Welsh cakes too.

Wedding catering, eats and treats!

Caterers – Fig & Smoke – we had sharing style boards which worked really well as we had trestle tables and it was like one big feast for everyone to get involved with!

Lots of Mediterranean themed food – breads, olives, dips, meats followed by mains of lamb, hake and stuffed peppers with a selection of side dishes and ending with a trio of desserts. The sharing style meant everyone could try a bit of everything.

Evening pizza van – Shoreline pizza

Any crafty projects or homemade styling touches?

Homemade signage (welcome sign and table plan) – made the most of the groom’s skills set to carve out the signs into a wave shape to fit with our coastal theme.

The groom’s trade is in polished concrete manufacturing and we had polished concrete candle holders on the tables.

We met on Tinder and had candles and little glass bottles filled with matches as our favours – the Tinder symbol is a flame and we used the slogan of ‘it’s a match’ to have personalised stickers printed on the bottles.

We decorated the barn with fairy lights, festoon lights and white drapes along the beams.

The mother of the bride made the napkins using a gorgeous coral print fabric.

Hair – Jessica Dodd (@styledbyjessicadodd)

Jess is an incredible wedding hair stylist and was a dream to have around on my wedding morning. She had the big task of doing mine, 5 bridesmaids, mothers of the bride and groom and flower girl and she did such an amazing job!

She listened to everyone’s preferences and we were all so happy and felt amazing all day. It was also great to have a trial beforehand.

Jess is such a lovely person and has such a calming personality which helped make the morning relaxed and fun! Can’t thank her enough and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a hair stylist.

Make up – Gem Ryder (@gemrydermua) I’m so pleased I booked Gem for my wedding make up as she was simply amazing!

She did make up for myself, 5 bridesmaids and mothers of the bride and groom – a big task but she smashed it and we all felt fabulous all day long.

She is so knowledgable, professional and talented, and listened to everyone’s preferences to make us feel like a glam version of ourselves.

It was lovely having a trial beforehand and her warmth, kindness and calming nature made the wedding morning relaxing and run smoothly.

Today’s wedding looks effortlessly stunning! The flowers, the setting, not to mention beautiful bride Jessica and her very handsome husband Finbar. This is utterly dreamy, colourful, with images bursting full of love and roaring laughter – in our books, an absolutely perfect wedding. The happy couple chose top London & UK wedding photographer Emis Weddings to capture their celebrations, and the images are out of this world!

Wedding photographer review

Emis was a brilliant photographer, who captured our day perfectly. We knew before we started looking that we wanted natural, candid photos that told the story of the day as you looked through them, rather than posed photos. As soon as we found his website, we knew he was the one! He managed to capture all of the emotions of the day and we had the best time going through all the photos after to relive the day. It was especially important he captured all of those moments we missed on the day, particularly as we didn’t have an official videographer.

Your best wedding moment or memory

Some friends performed Irish dancing in the afternoon, and we also learnt some of the dance and got up to perform with them! We managed to keep it a secret from everyone so it was a total surprise for all our guests and they loved it. Great craic!

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

We officially tied the knot a week earlier at our local town hall, and instead got one of our close friends to act as celebrant on the day. This meant we could really personalise the whole ceremony – including a small interlude to sing ‘Hey Jude’ by the Beatles, while we did a ring warming ritual.

The groom wore a navy suit from Suit Supply, with a tie and pocket square from Crossrow London.

Extremely professional, the day ran incredibly smoothly. The in-house catering by Southcott was incredible! They ensured the whole day went perfectly.

Danny had a suit hand made when we visited Vietnam in 2019. For the wedding we wanted a unique colour of suit – everyone wears black, navy or grey! Danny got in touch with the tailors in Vietnam to find out if they could make him another suit, and luckily they still had his measurements! So via video call he selected the fabrics and designed the suit you see in the photos custom.

Hannah’s dress was picked out on a trip with her mum and chief bridesmaid, Meg. I fell in love with it the moment I tried it on. It’s whimsical, fun, elegant, the whole package! I chose not to have a veil, but to have drapes from my shoulders instead as I thought that was a bit more unique and meant I could have flowers in my hair.

Rocke ‘n’ Roses

Daisy created the most beautiful flower arrangements which perfectly fit our vision for the day. The flowers were fun, colourful and fragrant.

Daisy also managed to create a fresh flower hairpiece for Hannah which survived all day without wilting at all. She was so creative, and utterly professional. She took it in her stride when we added a couple of last minute bouquets for the mums!

Any crafty projects or homemade styling touches?

        • Meg, one of our bridesmaids, hand drew our wedding welcome sign.
        • Ben (Hannah’s brother) created our table plan from hand folded paper cranes, fishing line, an Ikea clothes rail, and A5 cards with names and table numbers on.

      • Alison (Hannah’s mum) made the wedding cake and decorative sugar flowers by hand.

    • Our friends formed a small choir and sang during the ceremony which was utterly magical.
    • Sarah (Danny’s mum) kindly made tags to put on the chairs in the pews to reserve seats for immediate family and the bridal party near the front of the venue.
    • John (Hannah’s dad) drove her to the venue in a 1961 Morris Minor 1000 which Hannah’s Grandpa had driven her mum to their wedding in back in 1995 and has been in the family ever since. He put a lot of work into restoring the vehicle for the day.

    • Hannah decorated the wedding car herself.
    • Elaine, one of Hannah’s relatives, created the floral buttonholes as a gift to us.
    • Hannah and the mums worked together to create the table numbers using old childhood photos of us at the corresponding ages.
    • Hannah and her bridesmaids collected glass vases from charity shops and saved jam and sauce jars for over a year for putting candles and small floral arrangements on the tables in.
    • Danny’s mum made the golden capes he and his best man wore later in the evening.

  • A family friend, Jenny of Jolly biscuits by JD, hand made custom biscuits for every guest which were their name cards at dinner.

Wedding transport

We arranged transport for our guests to and from the venue with Cumbria Classic Coaches who had such fantastic touches – the bus destination was “Wedding Special”, they had custom tickets for our guests with the date and our names on, a guest on each bus got to wear the conductor hat and use the ticket machine, and they decorated the coaches beautifully!

We had our ceremony in the woods and it was so beautiful. The colours, the light, reading our own vows to each other, everyone was so happy, it was just perfect and still makes me smile.

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

We split up the speeches so my dad did his speech before we sat down to eat, Stu and I did a speech each after the sharing starters and then the best man speech was after the main meal which was a BBQ. We didn’t have dessert, instead we had a doughnut wall (made by my dad and doughnuts from our local Greggs).

As well as confetti everyone had sticks with ribbons on to wave both during and after the ceremony. Lots of people camped on site including us and we did a BBQ breakfast the next day. Our dad’s wore the same suits as the groomsmen. We hung up pictures in the Yurts of us with all our guests from different stages of our lives.

Hillside Farm Weddings. The venue was basically a field with a woods at the side. Everything else we had to source ourselves. We used Cheltenham Yurt Hire for the Yurts, they were so beautiful and luckily we had a sunny day so we could have the sides up!

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

Stu- suit from Moss Bros. Dark green suit with light green waistcoat. Waistcoat matched the groomsmen but the suit was different because he wanted to stand out. Christina – A fitted dress from Gatehouse Brides with a beaded lace bodice, low back, beaded straps, plain skirt but then a lace train and hem.

I was lucky enough for one of my gorgeous friends and bridesmaids to do my flowers. Anna Lomas. She did the most incredible flower arch that we used to get married under and then for the entrance to the main yurt. She also did all the bouquets and we all did the table flowers together the day before in jam jars etc. my parents also grew a lot of flowers that we had in pots to decorate the ceremony space and the outside of the Yurts. We wanted to try and make it a bit more sustainable so when it was over people could take pots home to plant in the garden.

Cake maker name + review

My mum Rose made the cake. It was a rum and ginger cake as a nod to my Caribbean heritage and I decorated it with some edible flowers.

Stationery maker’s name + review

Stu’s cousin, Lisa Harrison did our invitations, she is a graphic designer and that was her wedding gift to us. We were also luckily enough for our friend Rosanna to write our name cards.

Any crafty projects or homemade styling touches?

Pretty much the whole wedding was homemade as I have mentioned above! As well as what I have already mentioned, I made all the hair accessories for myself and bridesmaids. I also made the button holes. With my bridesmaids we made macrame hangings to hang in the trees. My mum made silk flower table decorations in little terracotta pots, she also made the table runners. My dad and Stu made the ceremony arch, a limbo, the doughnut wall, corn hole games, a sign post pointing to all the important places in our lives and the wedding sign. My mum decorated the mirror for the table plan and our friend wrote the table plan. We also dried our own flowers for confetti.

Wedding readings?

We had 2 readings read by some of our cousins. Lisa & Shell – how being in love is like owning a dog – Taylor Mali Zara & Georgie – I will be here – Steven Curtis Chapman

First dance song? Playlist recommendations?

Halo – Beyonce We had the most AMAZING wedding band – Tru Groove. They really got the party started and the dance floor was packed from beginning to end! They even set up a sing off with the guests. I would highly recommend them to anyone who likes to dance!

Hair + makeup name + review

My cousin Carly did my make up and one of my friends and bridesmaids Rachael did my hair. I am her bridesmaid next year but strangely she hasn’t asked me to return the favour!

Catering recommendation

I would also like to mention our caterers Hey Pesto Catering. They were amazing, from dealing with our complicated welcome drinks – rum punch, sangria & Pimm’s, to our evening food, curried goat, Ital curry and rice & peas, they were incredible and everything was so delicious despite being in a field with limited resources! I would highly recommend them.

Sara & Tom’s wedding is one of the loveliest I’ve ever seen – with exceptional images by Cambridge & Suffolk wedding photographer Damien Vickers, and wonderfully elegant creative styling. The time this gorgeous couple put in to sharing their story, supplier recommendations and reviews has made me incredibly happy and proud of English Wedding. Their words are heartfelt, which perfectly fits the thoughtfully curated tone and style of their wedding. The little details of their day include so many considerate and welcoming touches for guests. Your best wedding moment or memory

One of the most unforgettable moments of our wedding was the Father of the Groom’s speech. It was a truly special and heartfelt moment that left us in tears. As he stood before our family and friends, he spoke with such warmth and sincerity about the meaning of love. His words resonated deeply with everyone in the room, but especially with us. He shared the wisdom he has gained from over 35 years of marriage, talking about the true essence of love—the kind of love that endures through life’s ups and downs, that grows stronger with time, and that is built on mutual respect, understanding, and unwavering commitment. As he spoke, it was clear that he was not just offering advice but sharing the secrets of a lifelong love that he and his wife have cherished for decades. The way he spoke about his own marriage, and the love he has for his wife, was incredibly moving. It was a powerful reminder of what marriage truly means and what it takes to build a strong and lasting relationship. His words were not just a reflection of his love for his wife but a beautiful example for us to follow as we begin our own journey together. This speech was more than just words; it was a heartfelt gift from a father to his son and daughter-in-law. It was a moment of connection that we will hold in our hearts forever. His words of love, wisdom, and hope were the most special part of our wedding day, and we will always cherish the memory of that beautiful speech.

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

Our wedding was truly a labor of love, the result of a year of planning and a lifetime of dreaming. It was a DIY celebration brought to life by the Pinterest mood board I, the bride, had been curating over the eight wonderful years my husband and I have spent together.

Every detail, from the smallest table setting to the most intricate hand-painted sign, was a reflection of our shared vision and the love we have for each other and our family and friends.

Hosting the wedding at our family farm made it all the more special. This was a place that held so many memories for us and our loved ones—a place where we had shared countless gatherings, and now, where we would celebrate the most important day of our lives. The farm provided the perfect backdrop, with its familiar landscapes and comforting atmosphere, making everyone feel right at home.

The months leading up to the wedding were filled with joyful moments as we prepared for the big day. We spent weekends driving around the countryside, visiting thrift stores to collect unique items that would add character and charm to our celebration. It was a journey of discovery, finding treasures that would come together to create something truly beautiful.

Hand-painting signs, carefully selecting table settings, and growing our own flowers added personal touches that made the day uniquely ours.

One of the most heartwarming aspects of our wedding was how our family and friends came together to contribute. They baked cakes and treats, filling our dessert table with homemade goodies that were as delicious as they were meaningful. It was wonderful to see everyone involved, sharing in the creation of our special day. Their efforts made the occasion feel even more intimate and loved.

We also wanted to ensure that our friends with children had a great time, so we set up a dedicated children’s area filled with fun activities to keep the little ones entertained.

For those who traveled from afar, we arranged a camping area on the farm, allowing our guests to stay overnight and celebrate without worry. It was important to us that everyone felt comfortable and could fully enjoy the day without the stress of finding accommodations.

In the end, our wedding was not just a celebration of our love, but also a reflection of the incredible community of people who have supported us throughout our journey. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and countless memories, made all the more special by the time, effort, and heart that went into every detail.

We will cherish these memories forever, knowing that our wedding was truly a labor of love, shared with the people who mean the most to us.

A beautiful and meaningful location

Our wedding venue was a place that holds a deep and personal significance for us—our family farm in Suffolk. Both of us come from farming families, so choosing to celebrate our wedding on the land that has been a part of our lives for so long was incredibly meaningful. The farm isn’t just a piece of land; it’s a place filled with memories and connections that link us to our roots, our loved ones, and the life we’ve built together.

Located in the heart of Suffolk, the farm provided the perfect setting for our special day. Suffolk is renowned for its beautiful countryside, and we were blessed with sunny weather that showcased the area’s natural beauty. The landscape here is nothing short of breathtaking, with rolling fields that stretch out beneath wide, open skies. As the sun began to set, we were treated to one of Suffolk’s iconic sunsets, with golden light casting a warm glow over everything, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

One of the most distinctive features of the Suffolk landscape, and a highlight of our venue, is the Brecks—the clusters of Breckland Pine Trees that stand tall and proud against the horizon. These trees are a symbol of Suffolk’s unique charm, adding to the picturesque setting that made our wedding day so special. The Brecks are a reminder of the enduring beauty of this place and a connection to the generations that have lived and worked on this land before us.

Our family farm isn’t just beautiful; it’s a place that has a connection with everyone who visits. Many of our guests had been here before, sharing in the celebrations, holidays, and quiet moments that have taken place over the years. Having our wedding here felt like welcoming our loved ones into a part of our history, where every corner of the farm tells a story. The farm provided a familiar and comforting backdrop, making our wedding day feel intimate and personal. In choosing to marry on our family farm, we celebrated not just our love for each other, but our love for the land and the life it represents.

Suffolk’s natural beauty, the connection to our families, and the countless memories we’ve made here all came together to create a wedding day that was as meaningful as it was beautiful. It was the perfect place to begin the next chapter of our lives, surrounded by the people and the landscape that mean the most to us.

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

Our wedding outfits were a true reflection of our style and the vision we had for our special day.

My wedding dress was a perfect blend of modesty, classic elegance, and a touch of modern flair. It was a fitted white gown made of chiffon and lace, featuring a short train that added just the right amount of drama. The dress was backless, which gave it a contemporary edge, while still maintaining a timeless and graceful silhouette.

One of the most special aspects of my dress was the personal touch added by a wonderful seamstress. She skillfully altered the dress to include delicate half sleeves, which not only enhanced its elegance but also made it feel uniquely mine. These customizations made the dress feel even more special and perfectly suited to me.

To complete the look, I wore beautiful shoes from Charlotte Mills, which were as comfortable as they were stylish.

My wedding jewelry, sourced from Lace & Favour, added the perfect finishing touches, with each piece complementing the dress and making me feel like a bride straight out of a dream.

The groom’s outfit was a bit more challenging to put together, but the result was exactly what we envisioned. I had a very specific idea in mind and was determined to bring it to life.

We searched high and low to find the perfect copper or tan brown trousers that would set the tone for a unique and stylish look. After much searching online, we finally found the right pair that matched the vision perfectly. To complete the look, we paired the trousers with braces, adding a vintage touch that suited the relaxed yet refined vibe of our wedding.

The groomsmen wore coordinating bow ties, which tied the whole look together with our bridesmaids who had their own copper or terracotta dresses, creating a cohesive and stylish ensemble.

The attention to detail in the groom’s outfit mirrored the care and thought put into every aspect of our wedding, making it all the more special. Together, our outfits captured the essence of our day—classic yet personal, elegant yet relaxed, and completely true to who we are as a couple.

Every detail was meticulously crafted, and the final result was nothing short of breathtaking. Not only was the cake stunning to look at, but it was also incredibly delicious. Sophie’s ability to combine artistry with flavor is unmatched, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about how amazing it tasted. She took the time to understand our vision and went above and beyond to bring it to life, creating a cake that perfectly reflected our style and the theme of our wedding.

Sophie, thank you for pouring so much love and care into making our wedding cake so special. It was a special highlight of our day and a beautiful centerpiece that we’ll remember forever.

Crafty projects and homemade styling touches

Our wedding was a true labor of love, brought to life through countless handmade projects that reflected our personalities and the unique journey we’ve shared.

From the very beginning, we knew we wanted our celebration to be a boho festival-themed wedding, and every detail was carefully crafted to create the magical day we envisioned. One of the most special projects was the wedding portfolio I created, which served as a guide and inspiration throughout the planning process. It was a collection of ideas, sketches, and plans that helped bring our vision to life. This portfolio became the blueprint for everything from the color scheme to the layout of the venue, ensuring that every element of the day was perfectly coordinated and deeply personal.

The handmade signs were another labor of love. Each one was carefully painted and customized to fit the aesthetic of our boho theme. They guided our guests through the day, from the welcome sign at the entrance to the signs pointing out the various activities and areas around the venue. Creating these signs was a joy, knowing they would add a personal touch and help set the tone for our celebration.

Growing our own flowers was an incredibly rewarding experience. Watching them bloom and then using them to decorate the tables and venue made the day feel even more connected to us. The flowers were a true reflection of the care and attention we put into every aspect of the wedding. Each table was named and adorned with these hand-grown blooms, adding a fresh, natural beauty to the celebration.

The sailcloth tent was the centerpiece of our festival theme, with its flowing fabric creating a light and airy atmosphere that was both elegant and relaxed. We set up outside games and seating areas around the tent, giving our guests plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the day.

The firepit and beer canoe added a touch of rustic charm, inviting everyone to gather, share stories, and savor the moment.

One of the most enchanting parts of the day was the forest area we transformed into a magical space with our love story woven into the trees. We created an enchanted forest where guests could wander and discover special moments from our journey together, beautifully displayed among the trees. It was a place of reflection and romance, where our story came to life in the most natural and whimsical setting.

To add a touch of our shared history to the festivities, we set up stations offering specialty cocktails connected to our past. Each cocktail told a story, representing a moment, place, or memory that was important to us. It was a fun and meaningful way to share our history with our guests and to celebrate the moments that brought us to this day.

Setting up each part of the wedding with such great care and attention to detail was a true labor of love. Every handmade project, every carefully chosen element, came together to create a day that was uniquely ours. It was a celebration not just of our marriage, but of the journey we took to get there, shared with the people we love most.

Wedding readings?

Our wedding readings were thoughtfully chosen to reflect the deep meaning and significance of marriage, each resonating profoundly with our personal experiences and values.

The first reading, “The Art of Marriage” by Wilferd A. Peterson, was delivered by my mother. Her reading of this beautiful piece was one of the most touching moments of the ceremony. The message of the poem, which speaks to the true essence of marriage—commitment, partnership, and the daily acts of love and kindness—was conveyed with heartfelt sincerity. As she read, the words resonated deeply with everyone present, offering a poignant reflection on how to nurture and sustain a loving relationship. It was a perfect reminder of the values we hold dear and aspire to live out every day.

The second reading, “I Carry Your Heart with Me” by E.E. Cummings, was particularly special to me. This poem holds a cherished place in my heart, as it beautifully encapsulates the profound love I’ve been fortunate to experience in my life. Growing up, I was blessed to be raised by my grandfather, whose love and wisdom shaped who I am today. This reading reminded me of his enduring presence in my life and the deep bond we shared. It also symbolised the love that my partner and I share—an unbreakable connection that we carry with us, no matter where life takes us.

Having both of these readings during our ceremony was a deeply meaningful way to honour the love that has guided me through my life and the love that my partner and I now share. Each reading brought its own special sentiment to our wedding, weaving together our past, present, and future in a way that was both personal and profound.

First dance song? Playlist recommendations?

Our first dance was an unforgettable moment, made even more special by the song we chose: “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne. This song has been close to our hearts since the day we met. It’s the kind of song that instantly makes you want to dance in your living room, with its simple yet joyful lyrics and soulful melody.

The magic of the moment was brought to life by the incredible Folk Fables Band from Entertainment Nation, who performed the song live. Their rendition was absolutely perfect—capturing the essence of the song while adding their own unique touch. As the band began to play, the familiar notes filled the air, and we were transported back to all those moments we’ve shared, dancing together in our living room, smiling, laughing, and feeling grateful for the love we found.

Dancing to “You Are the Best Thing” on our wedding day was a celebration of our journey together. The lyrics spoke to everything we feel about each other—how much we mean to one another and how our love has grown stronger over time. The live performance added an extra layer of emotion, making the moment feel even more intimate and special.

As we danced, surrounded by our loved ones, it felt like time stood still. The music, the atmosphere, and the joy of the occasion all came together to create a memory we will cherish forever. This song, and the way it was brought to life by the Folk Fables Band, perfectly captured the happiness and love we felt in that moment. It was the perfect choice for our first dance, and it will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Wedding catering

Spindle Catering
We cannot praise Spindle Catering in Tuddenham, Suffolk enough for the exceptional service, dedication, and absolutely delicious food they provided on our wedding day. From start to finish, they went above and beyond to ensure that our catering experience was nothing short of extraordinary.

From the moment we met with head chef, Lee Bye and his exceptional Spindle Catering team, it was clear that they were dedicated to creating a menu that was perfectly tailored to our tastes and the theme of our wedding. They took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for, offering expert advice and crafting a bespoke menu that exceeded all of our expectations.

Our guests were treated to a culinary delight, starting with Norfolk smoked salmon truffle bellinis and hand-raised beef crostini for the canapés. Each bite was a burst of flavour that left everyone wanting more. The main event—a Suffolk Hog roast paired with rotisserie Suffolk chicken—was a true highlight. The meat was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender, and the accompanying sides were equally impressive. Every element of the menu was thoughtfully prepared and made our taste buds come alive.

Our guests were raving about the food, and many mentioned it was some of the best they’d ever had at a wedding. The Spindle Catering team was not only skilled in the kitchen but also exceptionally friendly and professional. Their attention to detail and commitment to ensuring everything was perfect did not go unnoticed. They anticipated our needs, provided seamless service throughout the evening, and even served a late-night snack to keep our dancing guests fueled into the night. We are incredibly grateful for the effort and care they put into making our wedding day so special.

Hannah couldn’t have done a better job of capturing the colourful and fun atmosphere of the day! She really listened to what we wanted, and made the most of every great photo opportunity, whether that be when the sun was shining, or in the evening as the sun was setting. She was also brilliant at coordinating our guests to get the best possible shots! Post the wedding Hannah was amazing at getting us a selection of photos very soon after our wedding and when we then received the final photos these were presented on a really easy to use and follow website link, which made it so easy to follow the flow of the day. She also sent us a lovely selection of photos that felt really premium.

Your best wedding moment or memory

Being on the dance floor with our arms around all of our friends and family in a circle before we had sat down for dinner dancing to ‘I love you baby’ played on the Sax by (Lucy Harvey)

Tell us anything you did differently – we love hearing about NEW traditions (or none at all!)

We started the day with a yoga class at the venue which my friend did for us, that was such a nice relaxing way to start the day! Those staying on site and in the nearby area came to join in. We then went down to the beach for a morning dip! We did a raffle at the dinner and gave away some items that had a bit of a funny relevance to us. We used cake toppers relevant to our nicknames (Our friends call us Gromit & Coy so we had a Gromit dog on one cake and a Coy fish on the other).

Roscarrock Manor Farm – A lovely venue, with several lovely spaces we were able to utilise for our wedding. The views for our ceremony were beautiful! Outside of this Robert and Phil couldn’t have been more helpful with trying to ensure our day went as smoothly as possible. We had a few weather challenges and they really did do all they could to help us work around it!

Tell us a little about your outfits – both of you!

My dress was of a more bohemian style, a halterneck laced dress without a train so i could keep dancing in it for the full evening! Sam was dressed in a summery, less formal chino, jacket and a floral bowtie.

Dress: Rembo Styling from White Reflections Bridal

Florist name + review

Cornishmoorflowers – Beautiful dried flower bouquets, based on what we had requested. They were exactly as we wanted and they even drove them to the venue for us to ensure they were not damaged in delivery. Greys and Green Flowers – Rowena supplied a lovely selection of cut flower buckets, so myself and the bridesmaids could spend the afternoon creating our own small flower arrangement in bud vases. She was very accommodating and supplied more than enough cut flowers for us.

Cake maker name + review

Fees in Cornwall supplied a Chocolate Guinness and an Orange & Almond cake which were both very tasty and guests loved that they were a bit different to a typical wedding cake.

Stationery maker’s name + review

EveryGoose – Imogen at Everygoose created a design based on the view of the venue and this was used across our Invitations, Welcome sign and other stationery. It was so unique, she is very talented!

Any crafty projects or homemade styling touches?

  • Boat Bar for reception drinks
  • Mr & Mrs Cornhole Floral Wedding Arch
  • Rhubarb gin shots
  • A wooden stained board for guest messages
  • A photo of us with each guest in their place setting

Wedding readings?

Our celebrant was a close friend of both of ours who we have both known as long as we have been together. My younger sister read a poem she had written about us as our reading. We sang ‘Ain’t no Mountain High Enough’ in the ceremony which was played by Lucy Harvey on the Sax.

Musical entertainment

Our Saxophone player Lucy was amazing and really set such a fun positive tone for the rest of the day!

First dance song? Playlist recommendations?

George Ezra – All My Love Love Story Taylor Swift was perfect for the confetti!

Wedding planner name + review

Wedding Coordinator – Sophie Walker – the prep of our wedding was quite chaotic due to some high speed winds so we weren’t able to do any set up until after 10am on the morning of the wedding. Sophie was amazing in turning it all around so quickly with minimal stress! The day wouldn’t have gone ahead without her.

Hair + makeup name + review

I did my own makeup. Neila Makeup Artist – Created such a pretty relaxed bun with floral clips
